Each Permit will require the applicant to complete required information fields and upload copies of plans and other required documentation.
All new construction applications will require the following documents to be uploaded in step 5 of the application process. Please have these documents available to upload PRIOR to clicking the apply online link below:

Construction Plans For Residential: Required for all construction or remodel.

Site Plan: Required for all construction and renovation if the renovation includes new footings.

Commercial Plans: Please make application for permit here and then the City of Lenoir City utilizes a third-party reviewer for commercial building plan review. You will deal with them directly and not the City for any fees associated with the plan review. The link to Municipal Inspection Partners for submittal is https://submitmyplans.com/
- Zoning Compliance: Inspector will verify setbacks and zoning regulations.
- Survey: May be required to confirm property lines.
- Proof Of Insurance: Liability insurance with Lenoir City Codes Department as certificate holder, workman’s comp or exemption.
- Contractors License: Please submit a copy of the license.
Applications that are submitted without the required documentation may delay the review process
or cause the application to be rejected.

Accessory Structures: Permits are not required unless the cost exceeds $1,000, but zoning rules still apply.
Homeowner Permit: Pursuant to TCA § 62-6-103, an owner of property may construct a single residence once every two years for his/her own use, as long as it is not for resale, lease or rent without being a licensed contractor. However, anyone hired by the homeowner whose portion is $25,000 or more would not be exempt from the contractors’ licensing requirements.
